Fans of the long-running reality series, which this year also controversially stars Nigel Farage, believe the revelation is in fact the Zoey 101 actress’ ‘game plan’ for the programme.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one remarked: ‘Jamie-Lynn: “I love playing a character that people want to hate but end up liking.” Did she just reveal her game plan? #ImACeleb.’
‘Why do I feel like Jamie Lynn saying “I love playing a character people hate at first then realise they like” is foreshadowing #ImACeleb,’ another shared.
A fourth commented: ‘The way Jamie Lynn said “I love playing a character that people want to hate but end up loving” if that’s a hint, then you got it wrong honey.’
In a bid to get to know Jamie Lynn, who has worked as a solo artist, releasing debut single How Could I Want More in 2014, and as an actress on shows including Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias, Josie had asked her which medium she preferred.
Jamie Lynn replied: ‘I like acting, music is so personal. It takes so much more out of you, like with acting, you’re like escaping it to be another character.
‘I love playing like a character that people want to hate but they end up liking, you know.’
Since shocking fans with her decision to sign up for I’m A Celebrity, and then reportedly refusing to take part in media interviews before its launch, Jamie Lynn has already been subjected to a Bushtucker Trial.
She also opened up about her big sister Britney, 41, telling her fellow campmates they’d spoken before she entered the jungle amid reports the two were estranged over allegations she was involved in the Womanizer singer’s controversial conservatorship.
Speaking on Monday’s episode, Jamie Lynn told campmate Fred Sirieix: ‘I think every family fights and has their stuff but I talked to her before I came here and we love each other.’
Britney wrote about her strained relationship with Jamie Lynn in her memoir, The Woman In Me, sharing: ‘My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.
‘As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalising on it.
‘She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous. I was really let down.’
But the Toxic singer also said she ‘loved’ her sister and wished her ‘the absolute best’.
The conservatorship, typically reserved for people unable to make their own decisions, was in place for over 13 years before it was terminated by a judge in Los Angeles in November 2021.
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight on ITV and ITVX at 9pm.
